Chairs on Tour – Day 1

Today we hit the road!  We’re off on a two  tour.  First stop, Victoria, then Nanaimo, then Tofino and we finish off with Nelson.  On the road, in our big shit kickin’ truck, we have Shawn Sorensen, who’s stage managing, me, Chelsea Haberlin, and the three actors, Sebastien Archibald, Cam Anderson and Chris Wilson.  This is a photo of us at our hotel – the Admiral Inn right on the inner harbour (it’s beautiful!).

Cam, Seb, Chelsea and Shawn (We're missing Chris but he'll be back!)

My goal is to write at least one blog post from each of our locations and I’m hoping my travel partners will join in as well.

So far we’re off to pretty good start.  A bit of a paint scrape fiasco turning a sharp corner in the truck (shhh!) and a few wrong turns but now we have beer and pizza and Catan and life is kick ass again.

Tomorrow we unload and tech at The Metro  in preparation for our opening on Wednesday.  I hope all Victorians reading this will be there!  Now off to the Catan board for an epic battle…

Happy Birthday ITSAZOO!

Today ITSAZOO turns 5.  Wow, they do grow up quickly!  That means that 5 years ago today ITSAZOO was officially incorporated as a non-profit society.  We’re going to be celebrating with a little fete especially for this very special company but I thought it would be nice to celebrate blog-style with a bit of a walk down memory lane.  Here are some photos from the last five years that bring a smile to my face and remind me of all the amazing adventures we’ve had in the zoo.

The curtain call from A Midsummer Night's Dream - our very first outdoor promenade production

Colby Wilson and Jason Moldowan as Dee and Dum in our promenade production of Alice in Wonderland.

Hansel and Gretel from Grimm Tales

Sebastien Archibald in Casualties of Progress - our first show after arriving in Vancouver in 2008

On tour in Tofino with Death of a Clown in 2009

at a Robin Hood rehearsal in Queen Elizabeth Park - summer 2010

It has been an amazing 5 years and we can’t wait to see what happens in the next 5!
